Comments from GLMP -- February 10 Episode
Thornbirds Posted: Feb 10 2009, 02:34 PM
Two words: Goose Bumps!!!
Today was awesome..get ready for a real treat...and even though we knew the spoilers..actually SEEING the moments were ELECTRIC...Phillip's entrance in that church had my heart pounding. You all will LOVE Beth's reaction...(before she faints)...it's so gothic and romantic...I literally had goose bumps. And we are left with a GREAT little cliff hanger!
GL is on fire again!!! , home, Phillip!

Good news!!! Thanks Thorny!
I read the post Wendy made and wondered if they were going to ruin the suspense with vague and uninteresting/unimportant scenes with Marina, but it sounds like not.
--------------------
Thornbirds Posted: Feb 10 2009, 02:50 PM
The Marina/Mallet stuff was brief...and it segued into Coop's accident...so the focus switched up quickly.
Characters today: PHILLIP , Rick, Alan, Beth, Lillian, Bill, Lizzie, Buzz, Frank, Coop, Mallet, Marina, Daisy.

wrdowen Posted: Feb 10 2009, 02:59 PM
Thanks Thorny, Sounds great.
Paula, I was thinking the same thing when I posted that last night.
I was so hoping I didn't have to see M&M too much today.

cihanl Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:07 PM
I can't wait to see Buzz! He's gonna need a and I'm sensing he's going to wonder why he never listened to a "vision". But first I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's reaction to Phillip...Wendy and Steph are watching right now. I wish I was too

stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:11 PM
So far. so good! We have Frank, Buzz and Daisy in the diner. Mallet and Marina at the adoption agency, the church with Lillian, Lizzie, Rick and Alan. Beth getting ready and Phillip coming on the scene of the accident.
--------------------
wrdowen Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:13 PM
Loved Lillian trying to get everyone to talk Beth out of it.
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:21 PM
I love Lillian trying to be the voice of reason. Rick also wants to stop Beth, but, she won't listen. Oh and the look and poor Beth's face!
--------------------
wrdowen Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:30 PM
MY PHILLIP!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL at the preacher's face when Alan is saying his "vows".
Why is everybody just walking past Coop in the hospital?
--------------------
cihanl Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:31 PM
Because the only doctor and nurse are at the wedding?
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:32 PM
OMG!!! The perfect soapy moment when Phillip walks in the church!!
I honestly don't know what is up at Cedars!! Poor Coop!
I feel bad they missed Phillip's phone call at Company.
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:33 PM
Paula, lots of Cedars staff are shown walking right past bloody Coop on a gurney!
--------------------
wrdowen Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:35 PM
Poor Buzz He looked like he was going to have a heart attack when he was talking to Marina and she told him about the car.
I even felt sorry for Marina when she was telling him.
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:41 PM
Marina isn't even bothering me today. The look on her face that Coop talked to Alan last before the accident!
Poor Coop, is still laying in the hospital unnoticed, calling Beth's name.
I can't believe in the middle of everything Alan says to Phillip, "Welcome home, son."
--------------------
cihanl Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:43 PM
Seriously? Alan says that? Seriously? I cannot wait to watch!
--------------------
Thornbirds Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:48 PM
Yes, he says that, Paula...
But tell me where are all these wedding guests that Alan wanted to prove to them that he and Beth are solid and back on track...What's the point of having a "BIG town wedding"...when no one is even there???? That was just silly (cheap!!)
--------------------
wrdowen Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:49 PM
Typical Alan saying that.
Poor Phillip is completely lost. He has no idea why Beth took off when he mentioned Coop .
I was jumping up and down when Beth reached for Phillips face, fainited and then reached up again.
When Phillip was coming in Lillian so happy, Rick in disbelief, and Alan LOL just scowling.
RIck just stopped by .He just don't understand.
--------------------
wrdowen Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:52 PM
Thorny , Rick just asked me the same thing about the huge church and no guests and then he said well it is Alan's wedding.
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:56 PM
No guests unless you count Lizzie, who misses the drama and Bill playing drunk who was outside with Lizzie!
The church and the flowers were beautiful, but, no one is there. Apparently Alan's groupies deserted him too! Guess he really isn't proving anything to the people of Springfield since almost nobody showed up.
--------------------
wrdowen Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:56 PM
That is the first time in forever that I didn't even realize the time and that the show was over. I love the previews for tomorrow.
--------------------
cihanl Posted: Feb 10 2009, 03:59 PM
Alan just wants the headlines - he knew better than to expect a live crowd, LOL!
So Lizzie doesn't even know about Phillip yet? Man, I can't wait to watch!
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 04:00 PM
Today did go by fast, Wendy! I was kind of surprised it was over so quickly! Good soapy drama today. I loved how the scenes interspersed with each other and the camera work. The reactions of the characters and just everything! Today is a definite lighthouse show!
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 04:02 PM
Paula, Lizzie knows nothing, she was busy arguing with Bill and calling a cab for him. When she walks back in the church she finds Beth's bouquet laying in the aisle!
--------------------
Thornbirds Posted: Feb 10 2009, 04:02 PM
That moment between Phillip and Beth was AMAZING! I've waited years for a scene just like that!
Also when they thought Beth was bleeding...so did I...I was like...My God, a miscarriage!

I loved the show today! It reminded me of the old days when I watched, before the internet and spoilers, when I would be on the edge of my parents' bed (because I had to watch on the upstairs television, so not to influence my younger brother!). I would be on the edge of my seat, just waiting for a big moment like Phillip walking into the church (but back then it would've been Roger grabbing Holly and kissing her or something).
I loved seeing lots of characters interacting with each other.
I also liked Lizzie's comment "Grandpa is up there with death and taxes!" Good witty writing and also such compelling acting today. Just great.

dgct2 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 04:05 PM
Buzz should sue Cedars for just leaving Coop on the gurney like that. Buzz is right he's somebody's son. UGH that doctor oh well we didn't know who he was. I didn't realize that was a criterion in emergency car. Justin Deas rocked his scenes today when Buzz was telling Coop that he was there. Beth shivering in the corner as the others were watching Coop being worked on by Rick and Lillian really had my heart.
ITA the scenes with Beth and Phillip were gothic as they slowly walk to each other. Man Beth looked like she was heading to the gallows rather than a happy wedding.
Loved Phillip talking to Alan at the grave. That is going to be a very good scene tomorrow.
Overall a really good show. It went very quickly.
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 10 2009, 04:09 PM
I love how Justin Deas went from the more light hearted scenes at the start of the show to the heavier stuff towards the end of the show. I can't imagine that the hospital staff wouldn't have at least checked for Coop's i.d. The guy is laying there semi concious and bleeding!
I loved the Phillip and Beth scene in the church! That was good!
Can't wait for tomorrow!

marinaskye Posted: Feb 10 2009, 04:23 PM
I could not believe any hospital would just leave someone lying there bleeding all over the floor. Cedars has really gone downhill since Ed left town.

This show was great-what a mixture of emotion! Family bonding, anxiousness, hate, love, happy, sad, etc. This show had it all. And the dialog and one-liners were perfect. And Phillip and Beth
IVN would be so proud of BC in this story.

I must agree with everyone that Philip's return did not disappoint. Today's show really felt like GL

RM, your comment represents the sentiments of us all!
DGCT, great recap.
I also enjoyed reading the "streaming" comments all of you were making as the show was actually airing.
What a tremendous episode today. Interlocking storylines, drama, fine performances, and wit. What more could we ask for? MORE! And I am sure we won't be disappointed.

Great Phillip and Alan scene:
Phillip: It doesn't hurt anymore.
Alan: What?
Phillip: Where you SHOT me!
I love this show!
--------------------
cihanl Posted: Feb 11 2009, 11:09 AM
Yes, that was funny! It really was great the way they mixed some truly humorous stuff like Buzz/Frank/Daisy before the truth was known, Lillian and Lizzie's sad but funny conversation about changing Beth's mind - love the look Lillian gave Lizzie! Alan's vows, Beth's response as to what she had to say to Alan, and even Phillip's comment at the end about it not hurting where Alan shot him. They were all emotional and yet humorous moments - filled in with all the drama of Coop's accident, the family's pain, his suffering (needlessly!) in the hospital, and of course the Beth sees Phillip scene.
Again, really, really, excellent episode!

I agree with all of you, fantastic show yesterday. Very exciting. Great writing and acting.
QUOTE
Why is everybody just walking past Coop in the hospital?
That must be part of the new realism they've brought to the show. That's exactly what would have happened at my local hospital.
My one nitpick with the episode was why would Phillip go to the mansion after dropping off Coop rather than across the street to Company to tell Buzz? He was calling information to get the phone number of Company to call, but he never called. I think they dropped the ball a bit there. Other than that, though, excellent episode.
That waiting room where Mallet and Marina were at the adoption agency is really the lobby area of the GL production offices. We sat there waiting for Ron Raines to meet us for our studio tour. When we were there that flat screen TV you saw on the wall showed what was currently being filmed.

JaneW Posted: Feb 11 2009, 12:31 PM
Hi Minnie! I thought that Phillip tried to call Company, but Daisy was too busy decorating to answer the phone. I also thought that Phillip meant he stopped by the mansion, headed to the church, and THEN found Coop. I don't always pay attention, but that's how I interpreted the scene. Which still means he headed over to the church rather than Company to tell Buzz about his son . . . but hey, he had to interrupt the wedding!
--------------------
cihanl Posted: Feb 11 2009, 12:32 PM
Minnie - they didn't drop the ball on that one - at first I thought it was odd, too, because the first time he said he went to the house it sounded like he went there after saving Coop. But the second time Phillip said he went to the house, he said they told him about the wedding, he was on his way to the church, THEN he saw the car and saved Coop - and then he continued on to the church.
I thought maybe Phillip continued to the church because he knew Rick was there or something, since he asked where RIck was when he was dropping Coop off in that fine medical establishment.
--------------------
stephw27 Posted: Feb 11 2009, 12:36 PM
I was under the impression that Phillip went to the mansion first, found Coop on the way to the church, took Coop to the hospital, called Company, but, noone answered (Daisy said whoever called would probably call back), then Phillip made his way to the church.
--------------------
wrdowen Posted: Feb 11 2009, 12:37 PM
Thanks , That's the way I saw it too.
Miinnie, It's really sad how many posts I've read saying that hospitals are like that in many places. That is scary.
--------------------
cihanl Posted: Feb 11 2009, 01:03 PM
Steph - that's what I heard too. Phillip probably didn't have any idea who else to call when no one answered at Company - from the look on his face, he's certainly not up with the happenings in Springfield!
--------------------
JaneW Posted: Feb 11 2009, 02:44 PM
Still he should have stopped by Company, it is across the street from Cedars! I think he just really needed to stop that wedding!
