Emma is the one that has two mommies. Olivia and Natalia care for each other and raise a family together. What is their problem? Natalia walks up and sees Olivia challenging the other parents. Olivia says that Natalia is her partner. Natalia tells Olivia not to get so upset. Upset? Olivia has never felt better in her life as she wraps her arm around Natalia.
Shayne is at Company when Josh calls. Josh hasn’t talked to Shayne for a couple of days. He just wanted to check on Shayne. Shayne appreciates it. Shayne gets uncomfortable and says that he has to go. He has other calls to make. Josh knows that Shayne has a lot on his mind with Lara’s death and then finding out that Edmund is her father. Shayne says it’s not that big of a deal. Josh wants Shayne to come and work with him at Lewis Construction. They can do it together. Shayne needs his father and Josh needs his son.
Jeffrey is in his office when Dinah shows up. She mentions all of his hot shot DC connections. Jeffrey asks how Dinah’s head is. She can handle it what she is worried about is Edmund. Edmund destroys lives. He’s made a career of it. Jeffrey says that Edmund is not a problem. It’s actually a good thing that he is still in town. That way they can all keep an eye on him while he grieves for his daughter. Dinah shakes her head. Dinah’s head may be fine but Jeffrey’s must be not right if he believes that load of hogwash from Edmund.
Reva is at Cedars gushing over ultrasound pictures of her son. He’s very photogenic for such a little guy. He’s also handsome, healthy and developing right which is such a blessing. He’s also Reva’s little miracle because he’s helping her fight her cancer. He’s growing stronger every day. He’ll be a big man just like his father. Reva says that the nurse must hear this every time she comes in. The nurse is fine. She’ll meet Reva around front when she is ready. Reva turns around to find Edmund looking at her. Reva is wigged out to say the least.
“ Only Love Can Save the World, Only Love ….”
Natalia attempts to pull Olivia away from the two women at Towers. Olivia says that these are Becky and Owens’ mothers. She knows the words they have been saying behind Olivia’s back. Natalia says it was nice to meet the other moms now they have to go. Olivia says that if the mommies have questions about her relationship with Natalia fire away. They share responsibility as a family raising their daughter Emma. They also work together side by side at the Beacon. Olivia could not be happier with her family. Natalia is a great mother to Emma. She’s beautiful smart and quite the hottie. The mothers leave. Natalia is furious and leaves.
Shayne tells Josh that he’s not in the mood really to build shopping malls. It’s not his way. Josh is not even working at Lewis Construction. Josh says that he lost his way for a bit but he’s back at work actually. He’s standing inside Lewis Construction right now. He needed some time to breath before. Reva? Josh says leave her out of this for now. They can work together side by side. Shayne jokes and asks what the pay is like. Josh doesn’t want to pressure his son but Lara would have loved the idea. She would want both of them to do that. Shayne shakes his head. He has to go.
Jeffrey hands Dinah a ton of paperwork. It’s all surveillance photos on Edmund since he’s gotten back. He hasn’t murdered, kidnapped or done anything evil yet. Dinah says wait because Edmund is planning something. Dinah’s not sure what it is yet. Jeffrey says that maybe just maybe Edmund is here to mourn his daughter and not cause trouble. Dinah can’t believe that Jeffrey is falling for this hogwash. Jeffrey says that Edmund really looked devastated by his daughter’s death. Almost haunted because he lost everything. Shayne has given him the benefit of the doubt as well. Jeffrey sort of knows what Edmund is feeling. Since Ava left town? Yes. Dinah says for goodness sakes this is Edmund Winslow. They all know what he is capable of. Jeffrey is not that worried. Jeffrey is not giving Edmund a carte blanche though. Jeffrey says look at it this way. If they just remove Edmund before he has a chance to grieve then he’s going to get very mad. The madness is going to fester and then he will lash out which will be worse. He could attack Shayne, Reva or even Jeffrey’s unborn son. It’s better to just keep him around where they can keep an eye on him. Dinah says that Jeffrey is a fool to think that Edmund has changed. Maybe he has maybe he hasn’t. Dinah is a changed person. They have all seen that. Edmund lost his daughter. Jeffrey says though if Dinah sees Edmund do anything, then tell Jeffrey. Jeffrey will take care of Edmund then.
At Cedars, Edmund remarks that Reva’s son is very beautiful. She is very blessed. Why is he at Cedars? He was walking through when he saw the picture of the baby. He wanted a child so much. He wanted to give that to Cassie. They were both devastated when Dinah lost that baby. That’s right and then Edmund snatched Michelle Bauer’s baby daughter. Edmund knows that was wrong. He’s knows he’s the last to deserve a child but he did have a beautiful daughter. She was incredible and inspiring. Edmund had a daughter and then she was taken away. He feels so lost. Reva says that when Cassie lost Tammy, she was lost as well. She just wanted to crawl into a hole. She wasn’t sure she would ever smile again. Then she would see something or someone would tell a story about Tammy that would make Cassie smile. Cassie was drowning in her grief and those stories became her life line. Edmund says that Reva gets where he is coming from. Reva does but she’s not going to let Edmund use Shayne as a life line. Shayne is just getting back his life finally. She’s not going to let Edmund drag him down for his own selfish reasons. What if Shayne and Edmund talking helps Shayne? Will she take his one chance away? Reva is willing to take away that chance to protect her son. Shayne loved Lara and so does Edmund. Edmund questions if Shayne really does love Lara. Reva looks at Edmund. That is why he is there. It’s all a test. He’s testing Shayne’s love for Lara. Edmund says love is a good reason. They all do it at one point. Edmund tells Reva to take care of her unborn son. Edmund leaves and Reva is visibly worried.
Dinah is waiting outside. Her head is bothering her as she rubs it. Reva sees and asks if Dinah is alright. Reva can take Dinah to Cedars if needed. Dinah will be fine. Reva says that Edmund is just like that head wound. It stays around. It’s pesky. Dinah smirks and says that reminds her of someone else. Reva says she’s sorry for what she did. She was wrong. Dinah looks at Reva. What did she say? Reva says she was wrong. It was wrong to trick her to go up to the cabin like that. Reva thought she was protecting Shayne from big bad Dinah. Reva was wrong about Shayne and Dinah. Reva can’t help her son right now but maybe Dinah can. Dinah is stunned by Reva’s words.
Shayne is sitting in his room when there is a knock at the door. Edmund enters. Shayne says welcome to cockroach motel. He’s already seen like twenty of them. He’s already killed three of them. Edmund is surprised that a man of peace would do that. Why is Edmund there? Edmund knows they could both leave and go their separate ways but they are connected because of Lara. Shayne says what is the point of talking? it would not bring Lara back. Edmund suggests grabbing a beer together. Edmund and a beer? Shayne says sure if he is buying.
Why did Olivia over react at Towers and cause such a scene? Those women were a pair of gossip mongers. They were making a rumour true. What would Natalia do? Turn the cheek and walk away. Yes that would have been the right thing. Olivia says she can’t do that. That is not who he is. If someone kicks her, she kicks right back. Olivia is not going to listen to that narrow minded crap. They should not have to explain their life together. All she did was make it worse. Olivia says so what so people think that she and Natalia are lovers? What is so wrong about that? Is it really the end of the world?
What does Olivia want Natalia to say to that? Does she want to say that they are a couple? Olivia doesn’t care what other people think. Natalia does. Olivia says that other people can think what they want. And Emma? Olivia does not want her daughter to be scared. You can’t just ignore ignorance and run away from bullies. Olivia was making a point to those two women. Olivia and Natalia’s life if none of their business. She doesn’t care what they think. Does Olivia care about the truth? It was wrong and a lie. What is so wrong about them being two mommies? Is that so horrible? Natalia can’t do that with her beliefs. Then they share two different beliefs. Olivia thought that Natalia believed in their family and life that they were starting for Emma. Was she wrong? Natalia can’t answer. She’s late for her date with Frank. She has to go. Natalia rushes off. She will see Olivia later tonight.
Shayne and Edmund sit at Company and drink a beer. Edmund attempts to. Edmund says that this is actually more than a drink. Josh wanted to build something for Lara. Something in her honour. Shayne says that Lara loved children. They could save a lot of kids with a children’s hospital. Edmund says that makes sense. Lara had such a light about her. Edmund start to draw out an idea. Shayne is impressed where did Edmund learn to do that. Shayne takes a piece of paper and starts to draw like a mad man. The center should be a patio where the children can play in the sun but still be safe. The room should have windows and face into the patio. That way the kids who cannot play in the patio can at least be a part of the action. Shayne continues to draw like a madman as Edmund watches him.
What Reva did to Dinah? She kidnapped her. Reva says that is such a nasty word she prefers borrow. It annoys the heck out of Dinah because it was something that Dinah would have done as well. Reva smirks. Dinah say it could be worse. Reva agrees that they are very much alike. Reva admits she thought that Dinah was faking it when she fainted. Dinah laughs. She doesn’t trust Dinah. Dinah says that Reva is a pain in the butt. Reva knows that. Dinah laughs at least Reva will admit that. Reva does trust Dinah. Dinah cares for Shayne. Reva can see that now. Dinah says she does and she’s not sure when it happened. When they met originally in Germany, Shayne was a project to make Dinah feel better now Dinah…. Reva says that she has a lot on her plate right now with the upcoming birth of her baby. She has no time to take care of Shayne the way that she should. She’s asking Dinah if she would help. What baby-sit Shayne? No Reva is asking Dinah to help. Dinah understands Edmund. Edmund and Shayne are connecting right now because of Lara. Reva can’t predict what Edmund is going to do next. Dinah knows that Edmund is dangerous. Dinah gets Shayne right now more than Reva does. Reva needs Dinah to be Dinah and protect her son. Can Dinah give Reva a ride home? Reva has her car parked off in the distance. Reva warns Dinah not to hurt Shayne.
Frank waits for Natalia at Company. Natalia arrives. She’s sorry she was late. Frank wants to hear the rest of the pizza story. Natalia laughs and says it was as running joke. Frank says the can always do their date another time. Frank asks how Emma is and Natalia becomes frazzled. It’s a long complicated story. Emma is tough. She will make it through this. Natalia says that Frank is such a great guy. He’s one of the best guys out there.
Olivia is at Towers drowning her sorrows in martinis and men. A man walks over and offers to put the drink on his tab for her. If she doesn’t object. She doesn’t. She’s Olivia what is his name?
Reva is at home when Jeffrey shows up with a huge box. Is this a TV? No it’s a train set for his son. Reva had no clue that Jeffrey loved trains this much. Jeffrey say he really hasn’t until he found out he was having a son. What if his son likes dolls and cooking? Does that mean he gets an easy bake oven? Jeffrey says there is no way Revo will not like this train set. Revo Shayne? Reva doesn’t think so. Jeffrey says that is a great idea since Josh and Shayne are doing the whole father son thing at Lewis Construction? Shayne is probably not going to work there. Josh says it was a given. Jeffrey hopes so he and Reva can focus on the birth of their son. He really wouldn’t want to play with dolls right?
Josh is looking at a picture of him and Shayne when Edmund shows up. Edmund hopes that he is not interrupting with Josh. Josh says no he can take Edmund to the airport if he wants. Edmund is not leaving right away. Josh says that Edmund should not expect them to be big buddies. Edmund has terrorized a lot of people that Josh cares about. They will not be playing poker anytime soon. Edmund says he just wants to bury the hatchet. Edmund really hopes that Josh can consider or it will make it very awkward for Shayne. Shayne? Edmund and Shayne are going to be working on a construction project together.
At Shayne’s place, he’s sketching like a mad man when he’s surprised by Dinah. Shayne hides the picture. It’s nothing really. Just bare bones on an idea he’s working on with Edmund. Edmund came up with this great idea. Dinah says that of course Shayne is not going to do it right. Shayne looks at Dinah.
Frank and Natalia drink a glass of wine at Company. He takes really good care of her. She has no clue what she did to deserve it. He’s been the most amazing friend to her. He could have run the other direction with all of Rafe’s problems. Frank says he wanted to help out more. He wanted to do something. He’s always stood by her and supported her. She hopes he doesn’t regret it in the future. Frank says in fact he wants to do a huge party for Rafe when he’s released from prison. Frank asks why Natalia is so down. Nothing. She shouldn’t say this but she wishes she wasn’t always so tough and strong with her kids. She wishes she could get away from everything. Frank say he has an idea. He’s just going to throw it out there. He has a friend with a time share in the mountains. He’s been bugging Frank to use it. Frank and Natalia could go up together. Frank says that’s probably a bad idea. Natalia says no. It sounds perfect. She would love to go away with him. It would all work out perfectly then.
Olivia flirts with the man at Towers. He probably flirts with all the ladies. He offers another martini. Olivia says no. She’s had enough in fact she should head home. He could come with her. The guy says he has a business meeting in the morning. He could take her number though. Olivia starts to write but thinks of Natalia. Actually she can’t do that. She’s living with someone right now. It wouldn’t be right. The guy says that the man who lives with Olivia is very lucky. He leaves and Olivia shakes her head.
Edmund tells Josh how Shayne started drawing like a mad man. It was if a light went on where it was off before. When he lost Lara, the light was out. This hospital gives him hope. It could be incredible. It would be something that Lara herself would want to do. Edmund questions why Josh is looking at him like that. Edmund has no experience with construction so he’s coming to Josh for advice. Josh built a beautiful hospital in Tulsa. Can he tell Edmund what went right and wrong? Edmund wants Josh to help them build Lara’s dream. Edmund says they can make this dream a reality if Josh would just help. Josh has an incredible son who wants to do this. Shayne is an incredible man. Edmund had Lara but lost her. Shayne and Edmund both need this so much.
Shayne jokes and asks if Reva knows that she is there. Dinah smirks but warns Shayne about Edmund. If Edmund is telling the truth then fine but if he’s playing Shayne he will find out too late. Dinah warns that Edmund could be playing him to find out how Lara died. Shayne says that Josh offered him a job at Lewis Construction. Shayne can’t do it. Josh thinks he’s a hero. Dinah says he is . Shayne questions if Dinah has any clue how that feels. It sucks because he’s always up on this pedestal in Josh’s eyes where he can do no wrong. Edmund treats him like a regular guy. A guy who just dated and loved his daughter. Edmund treats him like a normal person. No one else does that. Dinah is taken aback by the insult.

Beth’s Choice
Alan tells Beth to marry him or else. Beth breaks Coop’s heart to save him. Buzz tells Alan to go to hell with his offer. Olivia defends her life with Natalia rather passionately. Remy and Christina work to get the grant and discover something even better : each other.
Previously - Doris’ press conference. Coop telling Blake that the book was not supposed to be published. The reading as Alan and Beth watch on. Alan telling Beth he knows about the affair.
Doris continues her press conference on TV. Natalia is nervous. Olivia is furious. Where does Doris get the right to make a judgement saying that Emma needs to be protected. It was just a paper for school nothing more. They are just a family like everyone else. Natalia can’t take the speculation and says she has to go on her date with Frank. Olivia questions what made Natalia run.
At Company, Remy sees Christina. She’s smiling. She did the right thing and cancelled the loan application for the scholarship. It should be for a real married person. She doesn’t need it now. He doesn’t have to be married to her. She has a way into Johns Hopkins now thanks to Remy. Christina thanks Remy for getting her the spot. She got the spot but she still has to pay tuition. Christina is aghast when she sees how much money it costs per semester. There is no way that she can afford that. Remy says then the marriage plan is back on track. Christina has to go and play nice with the loan officer. Christina is not sure what to do.
Buzz watches Coop talk to his groupies at Towers. Coop walks over. Buzz is very proud of his son. Coop can’t believe that so many people showed up to say hello and get his autograph. Buzz says that a lot of people were touched by his book. It matters to them. Coop says the book matters to him as well. He wanted to tell their story and do it justice. So being with Beth was not such a waste of time now? Buzz questions why Coop could not have made the picture look less like Beth. Coop had no clue. Blake did that. Coop looks at his watch. Beth should be back now. He wants to share this special moment with her.
Beth tells Alan to let go of her wrist that he has forcefully grasped. Why so she can go back to Coop? Beth’s new lover that used to be involved with her daughter. Beth attempts to lie but Alan says there is no point. He in fact saw Beth and Coop making love at Company with his own eyes. Alan says that is what he wanted to talk to Beth about. Beth looks terrified. Alan says that indiscretions happen in a relationship. He was willing to forgive her and move on to their marriage. Then they walk into that travesty of a book reading. It was sickening to hear Coop read from his book. Alan was being made a fool of by the whole town. Beth doesn’t think that this romance with Coop is just a fling does she? She thinks she has a real chance at a life with him. Alan says there is no way. She took Alan’s and devotion and made it sick and humiliated him. The lies are going to stop now. The affair is going to stop now. What does Alan want? Alan smiles and pours a brandy for his bride. Why of course to get married to his bride? Beth is aghast. He wants her to marry him ! Yes, it’s the most obvious solution to their problem. Beth says that their life together ended a while ago. Alan has to realize that. She tried to him and give their romance a chance. Beth is sorry that she hurt him. They have so much history as friends. Alan says friends ! She cheated on him and kept him in the dark while the whole town knew of her torrid affair. That does not sound like friendship at all. He still wants to marry her to what save face? No Beth and Alan are meant to be together. The affair is just a passing a whim nothing more. Beth will marry him or….obviously she doesn’t care that much about what happens to Coop. Beth steps back horrified. Did he learn nothing from Tammy’s death? He learned how to be more cautious. Payton deserves to have her family with her parents married. Beth needs to let this silly notion go that she will have a life with Coop. That is not going to happen. Beth is all about family right. Well she’s part of the Spaulding family now. She has made her choice. Alan gives Beth one hour to accept his proposal. Beth is horrified as Alan walks away.
Coop is starting to get really worried about Beth at Towers. He tells Buzz he should go look for her. Buzz says that it looks like Coop is not finished with his fans. Coop walks over. The lady introduces herself as not a fan but instead the main person at Stanford University. Coop is impressed. He knows of their creative writing program. She has an offer for Coop to become their writer in residence. Buzz says that is an incredible opportunity. Coop says that Stanford is miles away. He can’t leave for that long. Buzz says that he gave up Oxford for Ava. Is he going to give up this chance as well? Coop says he has to unless. Coop walks over and says that he is very flattered. He would to take the position but he needs help with something. If they can do this then he will consider the offer.
At Mallet and Marina’s house, Remy arrives to find Marina packing a huge bag. Is she leaving? She and Mallet have a couple of days off so they are going to go up to the mountains and have lots and lots of sex. Remy gets squeamish and tells Marina that is way too much information. Marina says they have been so focused on the adoption problems. Remy understands. It’s not going to work if Mallet and Marina push it to happen so they are going to leave and rest for a bit. Does Marina need a house sitter this time? Marina says no because she has no plants. Why does Remy and Christina want to play house again? Actually Remy needs the house because the financial aid officer is coming over to see if Christina qualifies for the financial aid. Does Christina know? She will. Marina says that is fine. Just then Christina shows up. Christina questions what is up with Mallet and Marina’s house. Actually it’s Remy and Christina’s house for now. Good luck. Marina leaves. Christina looks at Remy. Remy picks up his bride and carries her across the threshold.
Olivia arrives at Doris’ office and is ticked off. Where does she get the right to be so judgemental? Doris wants to protect the children. It’s not personal. She wants to get attention to the project. So she uses Emma to do that? That was Emma’s paper about her family. Doris doesn’t care what Olivia and Natalia do in their private lives? Olivia says she and Natalia are not lesbians or a couple. They just live together. Doris says that Olivia should explain this to Emma then.
Frank questions if it is too cold for picnic. Natalia says it’s fine. A picnic will be nice and private away from the judgemental eyes. Frank is confused and asks what she means. Just then Natalia’s phone rings. It’s Emma’s babysitter. Emma’s missing. She just left the playground and went away. Natalia freaks out. She’s coming over right away. Frank says that he found Emma last time. He will find her again.
Christina giggles and tells Remy to put her down. He plops her down on the couch. Remy says that he has a plan to talk to the advisor. She cancelled that. Remy called back and convinced the advisor to give Christina a second look. He explained that his wife has too much pride to take a government grant even though she needs it. Christina says this will not work. It will. They will see our beautiful house and life together. So another lie about the house? Well separate places would not give the idea of a warm and loving couple right. Knock at the door. Will Remy or Christina get that? Christina started this. She will finish it. Christina goes to open the door. She looks at the advisor and welcomes him to their house.
Olivia tells Doris that Emma did what she was supposed to do. She wrote a project about her family. They are just friends that live together. Friends? There is nothing salicious about it. They live together to help raise each others kids. Does Doris have a clue that Olivia nearly died last year? She barely knew Natalia though she knew Gus well. Gus died in a motorcycle accident. Natalia let Olivia have the heart even though Olivia was with Gus. Even after everything, she still cared about Olivia. Would Doris do something so unselfish? Natalia is a kind, warm, beautiful woman who is stronger than anyone realizes. She has such a strength inside of her. When Olivia realized she had Gus’ heart, she wanted to give up but Natalia refused to let that happen. She fought for Olivia to live. They live together in a real home. It’s different but very safe for her daughter. There is no shame in their life together. Why is Doris looking at her like that? Doris says that is such a passionate speech. A loving description. Olivia says that nobody can judge their life. Olivia warns Doris never to hurt Natalia or Emma or she will have even bigger troubles on her hands. Doris says fine. She has to get back to work. Olivia leaves.
Natalia and Frank find Emma at the mini mart. Emma was not supposed to leave school. Why did she do that? Did she not like a kid at school. It was what they were saying. Natalia gets the point and tells Frank to call Olivia for her. Natalia tells Emma she doesn’t have to tell her the truth but it’s o.k. if she wants to. She can tell Natalia anything. Emma explains how she can’t see her friend Derek anymore. Derek from the presentation? Derek’s parents don’t want him near Emma anymore. Emma’s not sure what she did wrong. Natalia hugs Emma.
In Company, Alan shows up and sees Buzz with Coop’s book. It’s quite the page turner isn’t it.
Coop tells Beth that it’s too cold out there to be talking. They can go back to his room. He can warm her up the proper way. She can’t do that. Did she talk to Alan? She did. It didn’t go well. Not at all. Well at least she finally did it. It could be worse right. Now they can finally be together. Beth say no. They have to talk about something. Coop says that something amazing happened. He got offered the writer in residence at Stanford University. Beth is so happy for him. It was because of his new book? That is amazing. Coop says it gets even better. He made it so Beth has a place in the Law School if she wants. It’s happening they can finally have it all together. All they have to do is reach for it and they can have their dreams. All she has to do is say yes.
Remy and Christina invite the advisor in to their house. Christina offers the guy a soda or juice. She’s not sure if they have any in though. Remy covers and says that they both work so much that they don’t get out to get groceries very often. The advisor remarks that the pictures don’t look like them. Remy covers again saying that they are subletting the house from friends. Mallet and Marina were at their wedding. Remy says he’s very proud of his wife for getting into medical school. She really needs the grant to make it happen. The advisor says there is a problem because Christina turned it down before. Remy says that his wife is too proud to accept assistance. Christina says there is no question that she wants to be a doctor. She’s always wanted to help people. The reason she made it through is because her husband is a dedicated EMT. Christina understands that there are other couples that may deserve the money as well. It has taken them a lot to get to this point so whatever the advisor decides is fine with her. Remy and Christina will figure it out together. Remy and Christina hug.
Emma hopes that Natalia is not mad at her. Of course not. Grown people just sometimes care too much what other people are thinking. They forget what really matters. Olivia shows up. Emma hopes her mom is not mad at her. Of course not. Olivia says sometimes you find out who your friends are the hard way. Natalia questions about taking Emma back to school. Olivia suggests that they play hookey together instead. All three agree that is a great choice.
Buzz attempts to change the conversation. He says he has ideas for improvements. Maybe a wood stove. Alan negates that idea. Buzz says that maybe a set of franchises. Alan says that shows Buzz has ambition, must be where Coop got it from. Buzz realizes that Alan knows the truth. Buzz warns Alan not to hurt Coop. Take it out on Buzz first. Alan will consider that, but it depends on what Buzz does next.
Coop is smiling as he’s walking with Beth. He says that they can write a sequel to their story in California. Stanford is so beautiful. Beth would be getting into one of the most prestigious law schools. They could find really good schools for James and Payton and have an incredible life together. The bonus is they would be miles away from this cold town and Alan. Alan could not touch her or the kids again. It could be a new beginning for them. It could be so much more for them. It could be a real life finally. All she has to do is say yes. Beth says No, surprising Coop. She can’t go away with him. She has to end this affair before it gets any worse for the people involved. Coop looks at Beth not understanding what she means.
The advisor starts to head off but turns and looks at Christina and Remy. He says they make such a wonderful couple. Christina says thank you . Does this mean they have a chance? The advisor can’t confirm it but she should really start look at rooms at Johns Hopkins. The advisor leaves. Remy and Christina hug. She was so proud of him and he of her. He thought they were the ideal married couple in love. They fooled him.
Olivia, Natalia and Emma eat ice cream at Towers together. They are a family no matter what other people say. Olivia says good because then she can tell Natalia that she has ice cream on her face. Where on her mouth? No on her nose. Olivia removes the ice cream. Olivia and Natalia continue to flirt as a pair of ladies from the row above start to watch them.
Alan questions how long Buzz knew that Coop was involved with his wife. Coop has filled Beth’s heads with fantasies like the ones in the book. Buzz again warns Alan not to put a hand on Coop. Alan says that will not happen provided Coop takes the job at Stanford. Coop will leave town. Beth will return to being Alan’s wife. Added bonus Buzz will get a franchise of Companies. All Buzz has to do is the smart thing. Buzz gets ticked and tells Alan to screw off. Alan can total Company for all Buzz cares. Buzz is not making a deal with the devil.
Beth starts to tell Coop what happened. She was trying to talk to Alan about giving up everything but she couldn’t do it. It’s a fantasy this life that she has with Coop. It’s not real. It’s a great book but not real life. Coop asks if Alan did anything to scare Beth? Beth says she is fine. She just woke up. She can’t leave the life of the Spauldings. Coop says this is some joke. This is not her talking. It is. What is she doing being involved with the boyfriend of her daughter? Life is complicated. Beth’s mother is going out with Coop’s father. What did Alan do to her? Nothing. Beth then acts furious about the book. How could he have it published with her on the cover? Coop had no clue that Blake was going to do that. Beth says that the book proves that Coop is young and foolish. He doesn’t see that there are consequences for your actions. It was just a selfish fantasy. Coop says that Beth doesn’t believe that. She’s not some perfect character in his book. That woman does not exist. She needs a man not a boy. It was just fun nothing more. Beth is a mother with children. She can’t do this. Beth says goodbye to Coop. Coop is stunned and starts to walk away. Beth attempts to keep from sobbing even though her heart is shattering inside. Coop turns and sees Beth sobbing. He walks away.
Remy and Christina are at the house celebrating. They are drinking a bottle of wine. The next stop for her is Baltimore. What is she doing checking the weather? No the mileage. It’s 798 miles to Baltimore or a one way flight. Remy already checked. He knows that he will need to fly up and keep his wife relaxed so she doesn’t burn out. Christina says he can’t do that. It’s going to be 5 years at Johns Hopkins then more afterwards. She really appreciates his help with the scholarship but she can’t expect him to stay that long. Remy wants to. Remy’s family always wanted him to marry a doctor. Well hello to medical school, Dr. Boudreaux.
The ladies continue to gawk at Olivia and Natalia as they flirt at Towers. Natalia says she should probably get Emma back to her babysitter so she can go on her date with Frank. Olivia says fine as she looks up at the ladies. She needs to take care of some things. She wants to do a party to show what a loving family looks like. Natalia leaves with Emma. Olivia walks up to the gawking women and ask if they have a problem with their family?
Buzz is taking his frustration out on a cucumber when he hears Coop ripping up his book. What is he doing? Coop says it’s over. Buzz knew right. He was right all along. Why did Coop not listen to Buzz that this thing with Beth was not going to work? Beth ended it today for good. Coop was a fool. Beth wants a life with Alan. She was so hurtful and spiteful with her words yet she was the one crying. Buzz looks at his son. He was not a fool. Alan knows the truth. Alan forced Beth to push him away. They all lose but Alan gets what he wants. That is not right. Alan made her do it. Coop say it’s not over by a long shot. Coop hugs his father. He’s going to get Beth back.
Alan is in the study when Beth shows up. It’s done. Beth walks over to the balcony and starts sobbing. Alan watches as she cries.

Dayna's In-depth Recap and Charleyfan's Clips: Episode 15603, February 3, 2009
Truth and Fiction
Doris outs Olivia and Natalia to push her own agenda. Blake still thinks she’s the lady of Coop’s heart as he reads his book. Mallet tells Marina the truth. Alan lets Beth know he knows the truth.
Previously - Coop telling Blake not to publish the book. Blake talking to the publisher an giving the book a green light. Mallet and Marina at the adoption agency. Mallet having a hard time with the paperwork. Marina questions what is wrong. Mallet has to tell Marina the truth.
At the farmhouse, Natalia is looking at the computer. Olivia is on the phone. There is a field trip coming up with the kids. The teacher wants Natalia and Olivia to be chaperones. Olivia tells the teacher that she would love to but she never got an email about it. They would have to reschedule their day to go. Natalia says she found the email. Olivia says that they would love to go. It will be fun. Natalia is worried about other people’s reactions to them. It will be exciting going on a field trip together. Where are they going? A landfill. Olivia tells Natalia to remember to bring really high boots.
Marina is confused about the briefcase. It is a gun. Why would the agency worry that they have a gun in the house? Mallet says that is not all of it. Marina says it’s no big deal. If Mallet wants to chicken out of adopting a baby just tell her. Mallet says that is not it at all. He wants to be a dad. What is it then? Why did he not bother to fill out the paperwork. Is the gun the reason? Mallet says yes. There is a gap in his employment work because of some work he did in his past that he’s not proud of. He hasn’t told her about it. It was after he broke up with Harley. Mallet was not in a good place and was working undercover work. He was in a really bad place. Mallet’s work was not exactly kosher and by the books. Marina says they both have made mistakes. Frank ran a chop shop when he was younger now he’s the chief of police. Whatever Mallet did they can’t touch him because the statue of limitations is over with. Mallet says it isn’t for this crime. Marina says that there is only one crime that qualifies for. Mallet says that is what he is talking about. Marina is stunned and leaves the house.
Coop is sitting on the boarding house steps when he tries to call Beth. Can they talk for a bit? She only has a second then she has to talk to Alan. What does he want to talk about? Beth has no clue but she knows what she wants to talk about. It’s time to end things between her and Alan. It’s best for everyone around. Coop agrees with that. It’s the best for him. Alan is wearing dapper suspenders when he is waiting to talk to Beth. He tosses some papers in frustration and anger.
“ Only love can save the world, only love...”
Marina runs outside with Mallet following her. Mallet tells Marina to wait. She just needs some fresh air. Mallet is so sorry that he never told Marina before. He was ashamed of his past work. He still is. He tries to not think about that part of her past. Marina must do that with some of her past as well like when she was involved with a married man. Marina is ticked. Mallet says he’s sorry for bringing up Danny. It was stupid. Marina says of course since Danny was a criminal. Mallet was as well. Of course the agency is not going to give a baby to a criminal. Mallet needs to tell Marina all of the story because it actually gets worse. The man he was working for was Marshall Griggs. The same man that kidnapped Marina for Alexandra? Mallet is sorry he never told Marina about this. He didn’t think that she had a right to know he worked for the man who kidnapped her. Mallet says he was a different man back then. He had no hope. It’s why he kept on coming up with excuses when he saw the paperwork from the agency. He knew the news would crush Marina.
Alan is downstairs in the living room when the phone rings. Alan doesn’t have time for nonsense. When has Doris ever done something like that to him? What does she want? The governor is putting together a taskforce to deal with problems with kids. It has a lot of clout and well Doris wants the job. She assumed she could finagle the post after the Bill Lewis trial but that fell through. Alan says that the victim in that case was his granddaughter Lizzie. It’s taken a lot to get Lizzie’s life back on track. Now Alan has to worry about his other granddaughter Emma. Emma wrote a paper for school on her parents. Now the teacher thinks that Emma is living with a pair of lesbians. Doris is intrigued. Can Alan just give her a donation? That would work. Alan closes his phone. Doris calls her assistant. She wants the superintendent of schools on the phone pronto. Doris has an idea.
Olivia rearranged her schedule so they could go out with the kids. Natalia wants to go but she doesn’t want there to be a misunderstanding about them being there together. It would be awkward and strange. Does Natalia really feel like that? Natalia says she’s making too much of it just like before Alan showed up the other day. It’s nothing. Olivia says they are going to have fun today with Emma. Olivia and Natalia leave for the field trip.
Buzz and Frank are chatting in Company when Coop enters. Frank needs to be congratulated. He’s about to go on a second date with Natalia. That is great news. Coop says he has great news as well. Beth is breaking it off with Alan as they speak. They can finally be together. Buzz groans. Coop says it will be fine. They have a plan in place. Alan has no clue that they are a couple. Nothing bad is going to happen. Just then Blake enters. She says that the Cooper guys have get cleaned up for the book signing party at Towers. What book? Coop’s new book about an older woman and a young writer. Blake still assumes she the lady in question. Coop pulls Blake aside. Buzz groans worrying about the complications. Coop says there is no way in heck that book can be published. He told Blake that. Blake says sorry the book has already been sent to the publisher. It’s a hot commodity. Coop could get a great advance from this. What if people ask about the woman in question? Blake says that he can tell them that he’s a writer and it’s fiction. If he’s really uncomfortable about that, she’s fine with him telling the truth. Coop realizes Blake still assumes she’s the lady in question. Blake leaves. Frank walks over. He hopes his little brother was smart enough to change the names. Coop was. If anyone asks who the lady in question is, just tell them it’s Blake. Beth cannot be hurt by this. Coop better call Beth and give her a heads up then before the book appears everywhere.
Beth arrives downstairs and sees Alan. Alan was about to send people to look for her. Beth’s phone rings with a text. Alan says he doesn’t want any distractions right now. Can she do that? Beth agrees. Alan says he wants to talk to her. He suggests that they go out and have dinner together first to talk. He can tell Jeremy to bring the car around. Beth agrees.
Outside where it’s really snowing, Mallet knows that Marina is hurt by his news that he worked for Griggs. For a long time it was just small stuff like blackmail and scaring people away. It seems so surreal now that he did that. Now Mallet is not bothered by that part because these people were crooks as well. They were guilty of a lot of stuff. Mallet was not really in a good place. He was drinking and gambling heavily. He started to see the people he shook down as just things. They just became jobs. One day then Griggs came and asked Mallet to do a bigger job. He needed Mallet to kill a man named Horace. Horace was not a good guy. He did a lot of bad thing so … Mallet did the job and killed him. What was worse was that Horace was not a complete low life, he was a dad. He had a kid named Darren that Mallet knew. Darren is a good kid. He was a really good kid. Mallet says with heavy emotion in his voice. He walked away from the killing and threw up for an hour. He told Griggs he was done afterwards. He couldn’t do that work anymore. Marina asks how Griggs ended up in Springfield the year before. Griggs came after Mallet saying that Mallet had to do one more job. He owed Griggs that much. He tried everything to get Mallet to do it. He threatened both Dinah and Vanessa but Mallet refused. Marina is in tears. She can’t listen to anymore. Mallet pleads with Marina saying he’s not that man anymore. Marina can’t do this. She needs to leave. Mallet is left alone in the snow.
Olivia and Natalia are eating huge sundaes at Company. The kids are inside eating the same thing. Olivia says there is only so much you can tell a kid about recycling before it becomes boring. They are doing much better with double scoops of chocolate ice cream. Natalia says it’s weird chaperoning together. She’s not sure what to make of it. Olivia says that is honest. Natalia says she has to stop worrying about what others think. It’s not like they are together as a couple right. They know that. It’s not a big deal. Just a couple of people know.
Doris sits at her desk. The assistant asks if she is really sure if she wants to do this. Doris says it’s not personal. She has plenty of gay friends. She really wants to get on that taskforce. She’s tried other things to get the governor’s attention. This story about Olivia and Natalia will change everything.
Coop and Blake arrive at Towers for the book signing. Coop just wants to leave but Blake will not let him. This is going to be a huge advance for him. It could be double what he got last time. Frank asks Buzz how Lillian is. She’s fine. She seemed to believe Buzz’s story that Alan has no clue about Beth and Coop yet. Blake calls everyone’s attention up front. Everyone claps as she introduces Henry Cooper Bradshaw. This is an incredible new book about a young writer and an older woman. It’s entitled Affair of The Heart. Blake wants Coop to read a passage from the book for everyone. She has it already marked. Coop begins to read as Beth and Alan show up. Beth tried to stop the affair. They would meet at times and places but never fall asleep together. If they did that then it would be real. It would mean something. It was in that moment he realized why he was so happy when she finally did sleep with him. He knew that their lives were finally going to change for the better. She was there asleep in his bed for the first time. He knew that their love story had just begun. Beth is embarrassed as she listens to Coop reading. Alan looks over at his cheating fiancée.
Coop continues to read his love story. He wants to wake her and kiss her but if he couldn’t. He knew that he finally had a future with her. He knew that she felt safe and loved while they were together. It was something she did not have elsewhere. They had to be cautious though because she was a mother of three. They couldn’t tell everyone but he couldn’t hid what he felt for her either. Alan is ticked off. Beth is scared. Blake is beyond touched. Everyone claps at the reading. Buzz looks over at Frank. If they did not know about the affair it would just be another book right. They just need to stick to the plan and say that Blake is the lady in question. Just smile and clap. Beth walks over to the side of the room. Coop says he’s done now. Blake says she has another surprise for Coop. It’s a picture of the cover from his latest book. Beth cowers trying to hide mortified by the picture. Alan is pissed off.
Mallet arrives at the agency dejected. He’s shocked when he finds Marina sitting there. They are both there to see the counsellor. The adoption counsellor tells them to go with her. Marina heads in. Mallet is not sure what to say.
Mallet and Marina sit down. Mallet is sorry for not getting back to the counsellor sooner about the papers. He’s having some troubles with some of the forms. Marina says she needs to speak. They came her to get a baby. They would both be great parents. The problem with the whole process is the paperwork makes the agency decide if someone is worthy to have a baby. There are so many detailed forms. You can not remember everything that happened in your past. Mallet did some stuff along time ago that was not traditional work that can not be filled in the paperwork. Mallet looks at Marina. Marina says she’s not sure if that will qualify them or not to have a baby. She says that they are both cops. As such they go to work and risk their lives protecting others. How can an agency say they are not worthy when doing that type of work?
Olivia and Natalia return home. Emma is working on her paper upstairs. Olivia just wants to grab a glass of wine. Natalia will do the same thing. Olivia leaves the room for a second. Natalia hears the start of Doris’ press conference and tells Olivia she better get back in the room. Doris mentions about a little girl doing a presentation for her school about her family. The little girl’s family is not traditional which is clear by the title “ My Two Mommies “. Doris assumes that other parents are assuming the same thing she was when she heard the title. Doris says this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Olivia looks at Natalia.
Frank and Buzz are both watching Alan who is ticked. He hasn’t figured it out yet which is good. Blake is all giddy about the book. Beth walks over and questions if they think Alan is an idiot. Frank tells Beth he told Coop to call her before she came. Alan wanted to talk to her. Beth hopes Alan didn’t hear the story. Frank says if he did then just say the story is about Blake. She’s fine with it. Blake walks over to Alan and asks who he thinks the lady in question is. Alan is miffed and leaves. Blake says the hint was three kids. It’s her. He knows that right.
Coop meets Beth over by the elevator. How did it go? She hasn’t told him yet. They were going to do it now at Towers when they walked in on his party. Coop told Blake not to publish the story. Blake set it all up. Beth shakes her head. Blake thinks she is the lady in question. Blake walks over and interrupts and says the party is not about the fans but the press instead. Everyone is talking about the book. Beth knows. Blake loves it. Alan shows up spooking Beth. She didn’t see him there. He had no clue they would be walking into a private party. Alan suggests they continue their talk at home. Beth agrees. Beth and Alan enter the elevator to head home.
Doris continues her press conference. She’s not there to pass judgement just because the family has an alternative family lifestyle. She’s just worried about the kids being exposed to people’s judgements. She really questions the personal agenda of a teacher asking a child to write such a paper. Of course the child is going to do what she is told but what happens when the families life is no longer private but open to the ridicule of others. This is not the time for a teacher to push her propaganda. Schools are supposed to be safe for children. To subject children to a teacher’s agenda when we should protect them is not right. Doris is there to protect the children. Doris looks forward to comments about the story. Olivia and Natalia are wigged out by the statements.
Mallet and Marina arrive home. Would Marina like Mallet to make her dinner? He can’t cook. He wants to do something nice for her. She didn’t have to say that at the agency. Why did she do that? Marina admits what he told her had her head spinning. What does she deal with first. The fact that Mallet killed someone or that he kept the secret from her. A secret that could keep them from having a baby. Mallet is so sorry. Marina says what got her was he told her the truth. He didn’t have to. He could have just lied and made up a story. She’s not mad at him. She says this could mean big problems for the adoption. Mallet knows. The thing is he told her the truth. It means that he has that much faith in them to tell her and let the cards fall where they may. He believed that they could survive even after such an explosive secret. It’s why she had to stand up for them to the agency. Mallet went to the agency to withdraw his paperwork. He didn’t expect to see her there. It was a very nice speech. Mallet and Marina grasp hands. They hope this doesn’t screw up their chances.
Frank says that Coop has it going on right now. A great book and tons of groupies. Frank needs that good luck charm with him more often. Buzz says that this is deceiving. What eventually happens to a winning streak. It has to end. It usually does when a person thinks that they are on top of the world and nothing can touch them.
Beth says it was cold outside. She just wants to get a brandy before talking to Alan. Alan grasps Beth’s hand hard. Alan knows. He knows everything. Beth is terrified.

A secret that could keep them from having a baby. Mallet is so sorry. Marina says what got her was he told her the truth. He didn’t have to. He could have just lied and made up a story. She’s not mad at him. She says this could mean big problems for the adoption. Mallet knows. The thing is he told her the truth. Dayna's In-depth Recap and Charleyfan's Clips: Episode 15602, February 2, 2009
Dinah Faints
Dinah collapses while fighting with Reva at the cabin. Josh and Jeffrey search for Reva and Dinah. Shayne and Edmund talk about Lara. Marina questions what is wrong with Mallet. Christina has wise advice for Remy.
Previously - Shayne and Edmund talking. Dinah tries to warn Shayne. Reva kidnaps Dinah. Edmund shows Shayne the letter.
At the SPD, Mallet grumbles about all the paperwork for the adoption agency. Marina looks over at him. Marina questions if that is homework for adopting a baby. Mallet is just filling out more forms. They have to do both joint and private forms. Marina says she really gets to take a look at her past. There are some things that she wishes she could change. Mallet looks at her. Marina mentions that there was a call from the adoption agency about his first set of forms. Mallet lies and says that he took care of them already. Marina and Mallet kiss.
Christina arrives at Cedars to find Remy. She tells him a funny story. She got a call from Johns Hopkins saying that they have a place for her. The thing is she never applied so how did they get her name. Isn’t it the same place that he applied to? How did the find her name? Did they just pick it out of a hat. Remy says that Christina should take her chance no matter how she got it. Christina looks at Remy.
Josh and Jeffrey are outside Cross Creek. They are looking for Reva and Dinah. Jeffrey is on the phone. He tells his source he will call back. Josh drove all over town and there is no hint of Reva. He can’t understand why they can’t find her. Reva agreed to take it easy because of the baby. She agreed to tell Jeffrey where she would be going first. Josh says he actually got Reva to agree to that. It’s a deal. Reva disappeared at the same time that Edmund returned. Josh is worried there is a connection. Jeffrey explains that it’s not Edmund. He was upstairs and he saw Reva and Dinah arguing outside. Dinah?
Reva and Dinah are stuck at the Bauer cabin. Reva says the car service will be there in a bit. It will give Shayne long enough to tell Edmund about Lara. There will be no interruptions from Dinah then. Dinah is going to try her cell phone again. Good luck with that there is no signal up here. What is up with Reva? She’s so obsessed with her life she has no clue the trouble that Shayne could be in. Why is she putting her son at risk? Reva looks at Dinah who is obviously worried about Shayne. Reva questions why Dinah is so involved in Shayne’s life. It wasn’t fate that she met him in Germany. It was just a fluke that they bumped into each other. Reva questions why Dinah has this delusion that she is such an important part of Shayne’s life. Reva is the one with a delusion about how things really are. She’s keeping Dinah hostage at the cabin while Shayne is talking to Edmund. Does Reva not realize how dangerous Edmund? Dinah touches her head but fights the pain off. Dinah is trying to help Shayne. Reva doesn’t like that Edmund is back in town but Edmund can talk to Shayne about Lara. They can get it out in the open then Edmund will leave town. Dinah questions how much danger Shayne has to be in before Reva will wise up that this thing with Edmund is not good.
Shayne and Edmund continue to talk in the hotel room. Shayne says it’s time for Edmund to leave. Edmund says that he got the letter from Lara just before he came back to Springfield. It’s a lost art. Lara was quite good. Shayne says that Lara hated to write emails. They were impersonal. Edmund didn’t want to open it for a long time. Shayne questions that he hasn’t read it. Edmund did eventually hoping it would bring him some comfort. Instead all it brought were more questions. Shayne has no clue what it’s like to lose a child. Edmund has no clue the type of grief that Shayne is feeling either. Maybe they can help each other but if not. Shayne tells Edmund to wait.
“ Only love can save the world, only love....”
Shayne sits on the couch and reads the letter. Edmund watches Shayne. Shayne thanks him for sharing the letter. Edmund says that there are more. Shayne can’t handle reading anymore right now. It’s too painful. Edmund had no clue that Lara’s man was Shayne for the longest time. Lara then mentioned in the letter about Shayne teaching the boys in the village how to play baseball. She mentioned how her love had an accident while going to the majors. It didn’t take much afterwards to realize that Lara’s Shayne was Shayne Lewis. Shayne replies sarcastically that Edmund must have been thrilled by the news. Edmund was surprised. Edmund never told Lara about his past with the Lewis family. Shayne says that Lara never mentioned her father. Lara was so proud of Shayne. It was obvious from her letters how much she loved Shayne. Edmund has read the letters so many times but he always felt like there was something missing. He wants just some insight into the type of person his daughter was. There was so much more to her. Shayne understands that. They were always together and Shayne was still learning new things about Lara that made him love her even more. It made him want to know more and love her more. He could have been married to her for 50 years and he would still want to learn things about her. Edmund tells Shayne to keep the letter. Shayne can’t do that. Edmund has more. Shayne thanks Edmund.
Reva in full mama bear mode lays it out to Dinah at the cabin. Dinah can’t get over herself. Dinah can’t figure out why Reva can’t see what a threat Edmund is. Reva says that Dinah expects to take care of herself. Reva questions about the bump on Dinah’s head. Dinah can’t even take care of herself let alone Shayne. Dinah can’t just leave it alone. Reva can’t either. She can’t let her son breath. Reva says there is no room in Shayne’s life for Dinah. It’s not fate that Dinah found Shayne in Germany, it’s the Lewis family’s bad luck. Reva tells Dinah she has a family. Why doesn’t she go and see them instead of being around Shayne? Dinah says that Reva is just pregnant and hormonal. Reva can’t get over the fact that she wasn’t there for Shayne when he was a baby so she’s being over bearing now. She can’t get over the guilt. The pressure of arguing becomes too much for Dinah. She starts to sway. Reva catches her and tells Dinah to stop playing games. Dinah isn’t and she passes out. Reva calls out to Dinah telling her this is not a joke.
Remy and Christina are arguing at Cedars. It’s not a favour from his father. Just take the offer. So he’s not going to medical school? Remy’s not sure if he wants to. Christina can not understand why has no passion to do this. He has such low self esteem. The comment ticks off Remy and he leaves. He’s tired of hearing the same story over and over from people.
Mallet is at the house looking over paperwork. He’s frustrated. The phone rings again with a message from the adoption agency about his previous work history. Mallet cures out loud.
Marina is still working at the SPD when Frank shows up. Frank asks what is up. Marina had no clue there was so much paperwork to have a baby. She just wishes they could cut through the red tape. Frank says a lot has happened in the last year for her - married, buying a new house and now a baby. It’s the obvious choice for them. It makes sense. Sooner or later Frank will be a grandfather. Frank says that there was a mix up with the paperwork with the shift work. Marina has time off if she wants it. Marina says she’d love to take it. Marina kisses her father. She’s going to head home and surprise her husband.
Reva calls out to Dinah at the cabin but Dinah is not responding. Reva is really worried. What the heck is she supposed to do now? This is not good. Reva looks around then looks down at Dinah.
Remy and Christina arrive at Company. What is she doing following him? No. Maybe they shouldn’t be married if he’s not interested in school. They stayed married to help her get her loan. If she has school then they don’t need to be married. Remy says either take the offer or not. He doesn’t care. Just then a woman shows up with a baby in a carrier. Remy questions how the baby is doing. The woman says she’s doing fine. She will see him next Wednesday. Remy introduces Christina to Kelly and Remy. Remy helped deliver the baby at Company. Kelly says she would have been lost without Remy. He’ll see her next week. Christina looks. Remy is not cheating on her. Kelly is a married woman. Remy just likes to check on his patients when he has time off or an early shift. Christina says that is old time doctor skills. A lot of people have lost that skill. Why doesn’t he? Remy says he wants to eat. Christina can join him or not.
Marina arrives home and finds the paperwork on the table. She finds no Mallet. She hears the messages about Mallet’s employment history. The agency calls again and Marina answers. She says that her husband told her that they had fixed it up. The agency says that is not true. Marina is confused and says she will talk to her husband about that. They both really want to have a family again.
Mallet is down by the lake. He has a silver briefcase in his hand. He looks out at the water.
Reva realizes that she can get someone’s attention by hitting the alarm system. She tells Dinah to wake up. Reva questions what she has done. She hopes that Dinah is alright.
Jeffrey and Josh arrive at the SPD. Edmund doesn’t make them run to the SPD but Dinah does? Reva and Dinah have been arguing a lot the last couple of days. Jeffrey is worried about Reva in her condition. Josh says that Reva would hate that word. Jeffrey doesn’t care. He’s just worried about his wife. Jeffrey and Josh head inside and hear Frank on the phone. Frank says that he will call Dr. Bauer first before sending a security team up to the cabin. Josh and Jeffrey look at each other and leave.
Edmund and Shayne continue to talk about Lara. Did Shayne know Lara’s mother Rachel? She mentioned her but Shayne never met her. Edmund explains that Rachel worked at the palace and then she was gone. He was heartbroken when she left. Edmund says he and Lara were so happy when they did the test and found out that they were father and daughter. Lara had that ability. Shayne agrees. She could make you feel like the most important person in the world. Edmund says that Shayne was to Lara. She loved him so much. Shayne knows that this chat is not the reason that Edmund called him.
Remy and Christina talk Company. She pulls his food away. Remy looks at her. Christina puts down a glass of water and looks at Remy. How does he see it? Half empty or half full. Half full. Christina would say half empty. She’s pessimistic. No it’s how you look at things. Remy just needs to put the water in a different glass. He questions what she means. He’s already found his calling without realizing it. He’s an EMT and good at it. He took the MCATs and the John’s Hopkins because of the pressure from his family. He already has his dream. He understands what he wants. He chose it for the right reason. Remy says his girlfriend is pretty smart. Christina looks at him. Sorry wife… no actually she prefers girlfriend.
Mallet curses at the case and tosses it in the water. He starts to walk away but realizes burying his problems will not solve them. Mallet takes off his jacket and walks into the frigid water to fetch out the case.
Frank shows up at Marina’s house. She really needs him. What happened to Mallet? Marina says she came home and found the adoption file on the table. There is no sign of Mallet anywhere. She then gets a phone call from the agency. Mallet has not been returning his calls or filling out the paperwork. Marina has no clue what is wrong. She thought they both wanted to have a family. What should she do? Frank knows. She can talk to her husband. Marina was sort of hoping her father would help her fill in the blanks. Mallet can do that when Marina asks him what is wrong. Frank is staying out of this. Mallet is Marina’s husband.
Reva is tending to Dinah on the floor when Jeffrey and Josh show up. Jeffrey asks what happened. Dinah fainted. Dinah slowly wakes up. Reva and Jeffrey tell her to stay on the ground. Shayne is with Edmund. Does Josh have any clue where he is staying? Jeffrey needs to take Dinah to Cedars. Jeffrey wants to be with his wife. Reva will be with Josh getting Shayne. Jeffrey just needs to get Dinah to Cedars.
Edmund tells Shayne he has memories with Lara. Edmund has none of that. Shayne says that Edmund knows more about his daughter then he realizes. Edmund just needs to understand what happened to his daughter. Edmund pushes Shayne to tell him what happened to Lara. How did Lara die?
Edmund says it’s killing him not knowing what happened to his daughter. How did she did? Was she alone? What happened? Just then a knock at the door. Reva and Josh show up. Shayne asks why his mother is there. Dinah is hurt. She’s o.k. but she’s at Cedars. She passed out at the cabin. Reva and Josh left her with … Left her? She’s with Jeffrey. Reva looks at Edmund. Reva thought that Shayne would want to be with her. Shayne looks at Edmund. It was a good talk. It was good talking. They should do it more. Shayne leaves. Reva starts to talk to Edmund. He tells her to go and be with her son.
Dinah is lying in a bed at Cedars with Jeffrey watching her. Dinah wakes up. Jeffrey says she’s fine. She’s in Cedars. What happened? She passed out because of the blood loss from hitting her head. Reva went to go get Shayne for her. Shayne is with Edmund right now. What was Dinah and Reva doing at the cabin together? It was nothing. They were just talking. Dinah winces as she touches the back of her neck.
Remy raps about the fact that school is over. Christina looks at him. She must have been one of those kids that loved school when she was younger. She still does. Can she tell his dad that he’s not going to medical school? Nope Remy has to do that himself. Christina’s phone rings. It’s Johns Hopkins. Remy tells her to go for it. Take the offer. He can’t wait to get rid of her? Remy smiles as Christina talks to the admissions.
Marina is at the house frantic about Mallet when he finally shows up sopping wet. Oh my God what happened? He had to fish his briefcase out of the lake. How did it end up in there? He tossed it in there. It’s not going to fix anything if he hides his past from her. Marina is worried now. Mallet says that they have to talk about his past.

Reva is taken aback that Dinah didn’t squeal about her plan. Jeffrey says that was crazy with Dinah’s head and Reva being almost due in her condition. Reva hates that word “ condition” They wanted to talk privately and the cabin seemed perfect. They had no clue that the phones would not be working or Dinah’s car would keel over. Reva figured that tripping the alarm would be the quickest way to get their attention. It worked. They went to Edmund to get Shayne. Where is he? He’s with Dinah right now. Dinah did not want Shayne to go anywhere near Edmund’s place. She was really worried. Reva wonders what is wrong.
Shayne looks down at Dinah resting in her hospital bed. He whistles to get her attention. She looks over at him. So she fainted? Passed out at the cabin. Just a bump on the head from keeping a guy from jumping off a roof. Was it worth it ? It was. So at the cabin alone with Reva? She has this bad habit of getting into harms way. She has to stop doing that. Well she will if he does. What happened with Edmund? Shayne has no clue really. They talked. It was o.k. It was nothing like what Shayne suspected. Did Edmund to push Shayne to talk about Lara’s death? No he didn’t. It’s not that Dinah wants to get in the way of Shayne’s death wish. She just doesn’t want him feeling guilty. Well he does.
Mallet is shivering when Marina brings him a cup of hot coffee. Mallet needs to go first. She must think that he’s this normal upstanding guy. She knows who he really is. She knows the good and bad about him. They knew each other a long time before they got married. Mallet says that Marina doesn’t know everything about his past. Marina is worried. What is in the brief case? A gun. She’s not going to keep guessing. He needs to tell her what is wrong. Mallet tells Marina he did thing while he was undercover. He did really bad things. She wishes that Dinah would find a new playmate and just leave Shayne alone.
Shayne attempts to explain to Dinah about Edmund. Reva is beyond stressed. Shayne is going to ask Edmund to leave. Dinah says that Edmund is not a simple landmine that Shayne can just diffuse. Edmund will destroy Shayne if he finds out the truth. Edmund will keep pushing and Shayne will break down and admit what happened to Lara. Shayne says give him some credit. Dinah says that Edmund could really hurt him. Shayne says he’ll be fine. He has to go. Reva watches Dinah and Shayne argue from the doorway.

Lizzie tells Cyrus they can head out later. She’ll meet him in the study. Cyrus leaves. Bill questions Lizzie and Cyrus? What is up with that? He likes her. She likes him. It’s simple which is a nice change. Why is he there? He wants to tell her something. He went out of town to find… .Lizzie and Cyrus? Cyrus is a con man and a player. He’s a cad just ask Alexandra. Lizzie says everyone deserves a second chance. She gave Bill how many chances. Bill then sees the pink leash. He remarks that belongs to Roxie. Lizzie must still care. Lizzie lies and says that she actually was planning on messenger it to Bill. She doesn’t want Roxie or Bill back. Cyrus and Lizzie will be heading out soon. She has to get ready. Is there anything else? Bill says no. He just wanted to make sure that she is o.k. She’s fine. Bill leaves. Lizzie looks in the mirror and fixes her hair.
Cyrus sees Daisy at Company. He’s looking for Grady. Company is not one of Grady’s favourite spots. Has Cyrus check out the mayor’s office? Cyrus can’t still wrap his head around that concept. Cyrus says that he had a job for Grady. Daisy says she can help. She’s always needing extra money. Cyrus says that actually it would not work for her. It involves his work with Lizzie at Spaulding Lewis. How is that work? Cyrus smirks. It’s interesting. It’s hard to describe. Daisy can’t believe that Cyrus is making a move on Lizzie now. Daisy goes off on Cyrus. He can’t keep coning women. First Marina, then Harley and Cassie and now Lizzie? He needs to stay away from Bill and Lizzie. Daisy leaves. Cyrus is shocked by Daisy’s outburst.
Shayne tells Dinah he can handle Edmund. Dinah says that is not easy as he thinks. Shayne hides his feelings behind a wall like Dinah. They have great intentions but they usually backfire on them. Billy explains that Bill hit his head and he’s been out cold for a bit. Bill says he has to go and warn Lizzie. He can’t let Phillip get her. Billy tells his son to rest. Bill looks over the paperwork as well.
In Company, Buzz can’t help but be worried for the safety of his son. Coop says it will all be fine. Beth is going to break it off with Alan today. They have been teetering on the edge of a break up for a long time. Coop explains that he and Beth are going to wait a couple of weeks then start to see each other. Alan will none the wiser. Alan will never touch Company. There will be no reason for Alan to flatten Company. Frank enters and sees his baby brother. Frank calls Coop Captain Daredevil. Coop says cute. Coop then sees Blake enter. Coop tells Blake the book is way too hot to be published. Blake is touched. She says the book should be published because it’s about a true love story. Coop tells Blake the story will not be published if he has any say.
Rick walks into Towers and sees Lizzie at the bar. She’s looking at a glass of wine. If she’s not going to drink it, she should donate it. Lizzie passes the glass over to Rick. What is going on with her? Why did Beth and Rick have break up? Rick laughs and says that would take a long time to tell her. The short version is 6 hours. Rick knows about Beth and Coop. Lizzie is shocked. How many people know about the affair? It is only going to end bad for all of them if Alan ever figures out.
Beth walks into the study in the Mansion and sees Alan with the letter opener. He’s back from his trip. Yes he is. She s him home. She questions if something is wrong. Alan glares at Beth as he holds the letter opener.
“ Only love ….”
Alan looks at a picture of Beth. She’s worried about him. Is there something wrong? Alan says sorry. It’s just been a very long day. He was caught off guard by something today. He was stabbed in the back and betrayed by someone close. Beth is not sure what Alan means. Alan turns and looks at his lying wife and says that it was about business. It came as a huge blow to him when he found out. It upset him so much. The wound is still very fresh. Alan questions why words like trust, faith and honour mean nothing to people these days. Beth doesn’t understand but starts to squirm. Alan says of course Beth would not know something like that. What is he going to do about the betrayal? That’s a very good question. He’s going to have to think about that. Alan looks down at the letter opener. Beth is spooked now. Alan says he could just change his mind and walk away but that is not who he is. It’s not following the principles that have guided his life so far. It means that he will fight for what he wants and what is his. No one will take away or they will have a huge battle on their hands. Alan will destroy them. Beth is visibly worried and spooked. Alan puts on the charm and asks how Beth’s day was. Beth says it was fine. Nothing happened. Alan says that she looks beautiful. He wants her to come with him upstairs. Why? He wants to see their beautiful baby daughter. It’s times like this when you really need your family. Beth and Alan head up the stairs. Beth heads into the room. Alan stops then follows her.
Frank and Buzz are talking in Company while watching Coop and Blake talk. Alan can not put this together. Coop thinks that Alan and Beth will just break up then he can start dating Beth a couple of weeks later. Frank says this is why he hates secrets. They always blow up in your face. Frank is worried about the toll this affair is taking on Buzz. If Alan figures out then he will come after the Cooper family. Buzz wishes that his son wasn’t like this. Frank looks at Buzz and says that Coop is exactly like his father. Coop attempts to reason with Blake. The book can not be published. Blake is really confused. Did he not hear the words of the publisher? This is a guaranteed best seller. Coop does not care. He wrote the book…for himself. Blake says it was a beautiful story. The heroine is such an incredible woman. Coop realizes that Blake assumes that she’s the heroine. Coop shakes his head. Coop says that if the story is published then everyone will want to know who the woman is in question. Blake is fine with that. It’s a beautiful love story. The world needs stories like this right now. He will have great success with this story. Coop says no it can not be published. She has to tell the publisher no. Coop will just write another story. As good as this one? Coop agrees that is not possible.
Lizzie tells Rick at Towers that Coop had the nerve to write a book about the affair. Rick says that writers do that. All he did was change the names but everyone will know. It’s not likely that Alan will read the book. Lizzie says that is not the point. Everyone else will read it. Coop is just asking for trouble from Alan. Coop loves Beth. Lizzie says that love does not work. Rick says that they both have the same point. Lizzie explains that Phillip get more delusional with the lies. Rick agrees with that. Would Lizzie want her father to return? Lizzie agrees but only if Phillip is o.k. mentally. If he is the same as before then it’s best to be left dropped.
Bill and Billy talk at the cabin. Bill needs to take a break. He hit his head pretty good. Billy tells his son to sit down. Phillip is not there now. Bill needs Phillip to help him with Lizzie. Billy tells his son to sit down. Bill can’t because he feels sick. He rushes outside to puke. Billy tells Bill he has a concussion. He needs to rest and lie down.
Blake and Coop are outside. Blake is leaving now. She’s really disappointed in Coop that he doesn’t want the story published. Coop says it has to be that way. Blake leaves. Frank comes outside and sees Coop. Buzz told him about Beth? Frank says yes. Coop can imagine that Frank has a judgement about Beth. Frank does. Coop has a simple question for Frank. What if Coop were to nose around in Frank’s business and tell him what to do? How would Frank react? Frank would not be impressed either. Point taken.
Back at the Mansion, Alan is walking down the stairs with Beth. He remarks on how beautiful Payton is getting. Alan feels like moments with his daughter and all the cares of the world just melt away. He can almost forget the betrayals. Beth’s phone rings then with a text. She’s all freaked. Alan asks who. Beth lies and says that it’s a girlfriend from school. The text is form Coop asking if she has already broken it off with Alan? Coop waits in Company for a reply. Alan watches a very nervous Beth.
Lizzie is still at Towers when Lillian shows up. She got Lizzie’s text. Lizzie says that Lillian really needs to knock some sense into her daughter now. She needs to stop Beth before she does something really stupid. Lillian says that this must have something to do with Coop right. Lizzie is aghast. How many people know about Beth and Coop? Lillian is worried about her granddaughter Lizzie says she’s fine. She’s stepping up and taking care of her family. She doesn’t need to be protected. Lillian goes off to talk to her daughter.
Billy is on the phone outside the cabin. He attempts to call Rick but no answer. Rick finally answers while shopping in the convenience store. Billy found Bill at the cabin. No Phillip. Rick suspected as much. Billy says he has a bigger problem the Phillip. Bill has a concussion. Rick asks if Bill has been sick? He has. Billy needs to find a doctor for him. Billy says that’s a bit hard being out in the middle of nowhere. Billy just has to take care of his son. Rick will find a doctor for Bill. Bill lies down in the bed and starts to have flashes of Lizzie.
Beth is in the Mansion drinking a glass of scotch when Lillian shows up. Is she celebrating breaking it off ? No it’s a glass of liquid courage. Lizzie asked that Lillian come and talk to her daughter. Beth is not in the mood for a double set of I told you so. Lillian tries to warn her daughter that she’s seen this before. This is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. Lillian wants to run for a bomb shelter when it happens. Lillian shakes her head as she looks at her daughter.
Frank is cleaning in Company when Coop comes back in. Where is Buzz? He’s out doing an errand. Coop really needs to talk to his dad. He’s busy. Coop can take care of taking out the trash. Coop heads outside and finds Alan standing outside the window. Alan says to Mr. Bradshaw. Is Alan looking for Buzz? No, he just came to take a look at his purchase. Alan is drawn to this window for some reason. Coop suggests going inside and warming up. Alan says that he owns a lot of properties. None make him feel the same as standing in front of Company. Coop says that is good. Is Alan sure he doesn’t want to head in for a cup of coffee? Alan says that when they were working out the deal . What was the word they used for Coop? Point person. A contact. A liaison. That is the word that Alan was looking for. It’s quite the word isn’t it. Coop is nervous. Alan says that they are all connected now in many ways.
